My Journey

Hi, I’m Toby, a freelance voice coach dedicated to helping individuals explore and discover their vocal potential. With a background in performance, I now coach professional voice users, using a holistic approach that blends various theatrical traditions to create an inclusive and flexible learning environment.

I hold a BA in World Performance from East 15 School and have been passionate about bringing stories to life since my graduation in 2015. My love for language started in South America, where I learned Spanish, sparking my interest in how speech shapes communication, identity, and emotion. This passion drives my work as a voice, accent, and dialect coach, helping clients express themselves authentically and powerfully.

In 2023, I pursued a Master’s in Professional Voice Studies at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where I refined my coaching skills on productions like A Very Expensive PoisonThe Nobodies and Some People Talk About Violence. Today, I teach at institutions like the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and work with private clients, focusing on vocal technique.

Living with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum has given me valuable insights into diverse learning styles, influencing my coaching approach to ensure it’s accessible to everyone.

If you're ready to enhance your vocal technique, expand your range, or build confidence, I’d love to work with you.

Let’s get started!

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum

I have Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC), a condition where the part of my brain that connects the two hemispheres—the corpus callosum—is completely absent. It's like a missing bridge between two cities, so my brain finds other, creative ways to send information between them. This unique way of processing information has shaped the way I think and approach life. While it can present challenges, it has also given me a fresh perspective, which I bring to my voice coaching. I understand that everyone learns and expresses themselves differently, and I aim to create a space where you can explore your voice with patience, creativity, and care. Living with ACC has helped me to develop adaptability and a thoughtful approach to problem-solving. These qualities enable me to support clients in discovering their authentic voices, whether they’re preparing for a performance, working on public speaking, or simply exploring their potential.
